Stephanie and Eric were married.

Then they got divorced.

They wound up respecting each other.

And now... they're friends hosting a podcast.

MEET THE HOSTS

STEPHANIE

A devoted mother of two who likens her ex to her #BFF, Stephanie Spett is cofounder of DIVORCE DONE WELL, a Dallas-based podcast she co- created with her ex-husband, Eric Spett.

Stephanie and Eric attended the same summer camp as kids, dated in college, got married after Eric completed law school and had two children together. After 17 years of marriage, like 50% of couples today, they got divorced. But unlike most, their divorce was remarkably amicable; they emerged much to everyone’s surprise including their own as “friends.” (Let’s go with friendly.)

Stephanie felt compelled to share their experience with others. With old patterns die hard-charm, she coerced Eric to consider a podcast—about doing divorce well —with lofty goals of getting rich! She would do it all (ok, most!) of the work if he turned up. He agreed with one caveat: Landing them on The Today Show.

Episode one of DIVORCE DONE WELL aired on April 22, 2019 with topics ranging from “how divorce inspired a podcast with my ex” to “the things that make you go hmmmm,” to “taking a family vacation as unmarrieds.” When Stephanie isn’t podcasting she works as a project manager for a financial services company and is a part-time yoga instructor. She co-parents her two amazing kids, Eli (13) and Sadie (11), who keep her on her toes and drive her to drink responsibly. As her son Eli says, “We are still a family, it just looks different.”

ERIC

Lawyer by day and devoted dad by night, Eric Spett is the cofounder of DIVORCE DONE WELL, a podcast he co-created with his ex-wife, Stephanie Spett. Eric and Stephanie divorced after 17 years of marriage, two kids and a dog—and having known each other since camp, college and grad school—in 2017.

Emerging from divorce proceedings reasonably well intact, with kids reasonably well adjusted, Stephanie baited Eric with promises of fame and fortune (specifically, a book deal and regular stints on The Today Show) into doing a podcast designed to help others considering and/or undergoing and/or post-divorce do it… well. (Let’s to with reasonably well.) (Ok, as well as can be expected.)

By no means an expert, nor knowing much (make that anything) about podcasting, Eric reluctantly agreed.

Episode one of DIVORCE DONE WELL aired on April 22, 2019 with topics ranging from “how divorce inspired a podcast with my ex” to “the things that make you go hmmmm,” to “taking a family vacation as unmarrieds.” When Eric isn’t podcasting or chauffeuring his kids, Eli (13) and Sadie (11), from dance to football to sleepovers, making dinner, doing laundry, and dealing with stuff he never frankly anticipated as a single dad, he enjoys live music (secretly hoping there is time left to become the lead singer of REM) and exercising so he can eat tacos three times a week.
